The competitive team at Foothills Gymnastics Academy continued its strong season on Feb. 10 with a successful competition at the Carolina Classic Invitational in Columbia, S.C.

FGA’s Xcel Bronze gymnast, Genevieve Ard, took part in her first competition. She delivered a strong performance with a first-place all-around score of 35.90. She also won five place on bars with a score of 9.45 and first place on the vault with a score of 9.20.

FGA’s Xcel Silver team (Anna-Carlisle Keim, Caity Elledge, Zina Ishwar and Reeve Carroll) also performed well and earned a first-place team award with a score of 112.10. They demonstrated some beautiful routines and earned a number of medals.

Elledge brought home four gold medals with a score of 9.6 on bars, 9.7 on beam, 9.35 on floor and an all-around score of 37.65. She earned a silver medal for her vault with a score of 9.00. Elledge also received two judges’ trophies, one for having the highest score out of all age groups on beam and one for “judge’s choice” on floor.

Carroll also had a strong performance that earned her first on bars with a 9.65, first on beam with a 9.65, first all-around with a 37.45, third on vault and fifth on floor. She also received a judges trophy for highest score out of all age groups on the bars.

Keim earned second on bars with a 9.55, second on beam with a 9.10, second on floor with a 9.20 and second all-around with a 36.65.

Ishwar received first on vault, third on bars with a 9.5, third on floor with a 9.15 and fourth all-around with a 36.15.

FGA’s Xcel Gold gymnast, Hurley Bell, also represented the team well by earning first all-around with a 37.40. She tied for first with a 9.30 on vault, earned a first on bars with a 9.60, second on beam with a 9.1 and second on floor with a 9.4.

The coaches are proud of how far each of the girls has come this year. They will spend the next two weeks preparing for the Coastal Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
