Community Roundup: Fisher, Charles, Hoots score victories

Jennifer Fisher of Columbus took honors as the top female finisher at the Red White & Blue Flame 5K on July 2 in Pickens, S.C.

Fisher covered the 3.1-mile course in 20:23.19, good enough for sixth overall in the field as well as the top female spot.

Zac Doneth of Easley, S.C. won the race with a time of 17:30.30.

CHARLES COMPETES IN CHARLESTON: Polk County soccer coach Lennox Charles helped lead Charleston VOP to the Carolinas Cup championship in tournament action held Memorial Day weekend in Charleston.

Charleston VOP finished 4-0-1 in the tourney, defeating Madra Rua of Charleston 2-0 in the championship match.

The tourney was played in an 8v8 format.
