In her freshman season, former Polk County standout Hayley Kropp continues to be a key contributor for Guilford Community Technical College’s women’s basketball team.

Through 13 games, Kropp is the second leading scorer for the Lady Titans, ranked 12th in the nation in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll. Kropp is averaging 12.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for GTCC.

The Titans visited fifth-ranked Louisburg College on Tuesday, falling 85-74. That loss dropped GTCC to 12-2. A video of that game can be seen here.

CATAWBA VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Through 16 games, freshman Jamal Tanner is averaging 6.6 points per game for CVCC.

Tanner is also averaging two rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

The Red Hawks, now 11-7, travel Saturday to face Wake Technical Community College.

APPALACHIAN STATE INDOOR TRACK: Freshman Sean Doyle has taken part in two meets this season for the Mountaineers.

In the most recent meet, the 2017 ETSU Track and Field Invitational at East Tennessee State, Doyle posted a time of 2:00.53 in the 800 meters, placing 18th in the meet.

WINGATE INDOOR TRACK: Junior JC Suddeth continues to be a key thrower for the Wingate track and field squad.

At the JDL College Kickoff Classic in December in Winston-Salem, Suddeth threw a personal best 13.19 meters (43-3 1/4 feet) in the shot put, placing 20th in the event.

Competing in the weight throw, Suddeth also had a toss of 12.10 meters (39-8 1/2) to place 14th.

MARS HILL INDOOR TRACK: Mars Hill sophomore Autumn Miller has been competing in the 400 meters for the Lions thus far this season.

Miller posted a time of 1:10.99 at the ETSU Track and Field Invitational. She had a time of 1:10.45 at the JDL College Kickoff Classic in December.

LEES-MCRAE INDOOR TRACK: Junior sprinter Matthew Darden competed in the long jump at the ETSU Track and Field Invitational, posting a jump of 18-1.
