As player, Charles helps lead Charlotte squad to second in Carolinas Cup

Polk County soccer coach Lennox Charles recently returned to the pitch, helping his squad to a second-place finish in the 2019 Carolinas Cup in Winston-Salem.

Competing with the Charlotte Premier Soccer League’s O55 squad, Charles and team reached the championship match of the Carolinas Cup with a 3-0 win over Greensboro United and a 4-0 win over Moldcastle in the opening day of bracket play.

CPSL O55 then suffered a 2-0 loss to Curmudgeons on the second day of bracket play, but had enough points to earn a rematch in the final. CPSL, though, fell 2-0 again to Curmudgeons.

Charles is in his first season playing in the Over 55 division. He played collegiately at Gardner-Webb and has coached in Polk County since 2001. He is currently the head boys coach at Polk County Middle School and the head girls coach at Polk County High School.
