Polk County’s Matias Akers sends a forehand back across the net during Tuesday’s match

Polk County picked up its first win of the season Tuesday in style, blanking East Rutherford 9-0 in boys tennis action at Polk.

The Wolverines (1-1) got solid performances throughout the lineup in their home debut. Adam Kehrer and Grant Waddell delivered easy wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to set the tone for the day.

“Good to get in the win column today,” said Polk County head coach Richard Davis. “Everybody played fairly well and we continue to improve each day.”

Polk County will return to its home court on Thursday to face Hendersonville in a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
