Wolverines fall at Salisbury in 2A playoff opener

Polk County’s boys tennis season ended Wednesday as the Wolverines dropped a 5-0 decision at Salisbury in the opening round of the state 2A dual team playoffs.

The Hornets (13-0) won their 11th straight contest without losing an individual match and have lost just one individual match all season.

Polk County ends its season with a 10-6 record. The match marked the final team competition for head coach Richard Davis, who is retiring at season’s end.

Polk County’s Banks Barber will begin play Friday in the 2A West Regional tournament at Gardner-Webb.
