Polk County’s boys tennis team will travel to Mountain Heritage on Wednesday for its first match in state 3A playoff competition.
The Wolverines (3-6) received the 10th seed in the 3A West bracket as pairings were announced Friday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. With only 20 teams in the West bracket, that earned Polk a first-round bye.
The Wolverines thus move into the second round and will face seventh-seeded Mountain Heritage, which finished the second with a 7-8 record.
