Mountain Heritage netters hand Polk County home setback

Mountain Heritage won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to defeat Polk County 7-2 in Wednesday’s Western Highlands Conference boys tennis match at Polk.

Morgan Allen provided one of Polk County’s two points with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Oscar North at No. 5 singles.

Charlie Wagoner lost to David Sink 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Harris Windsor fell to Adrian Melecio 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Jacob Jenne dropped his match to Kevin Fernandez 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Ethan Jenne lost a tight three-set match to Emmet Oesch 1-6, 6-3, 10-7 in a tiebreaker at No. 4 singles, and Isaac Hodges fell to Niko Theodorides 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, the No. 3 team of Allen and Hodges secured Polk County’s second point with an 8-5 victory over Oesch and North.

Melecio and Fernandez defeated Wagoner and Windsor 8-6 at No. 1 doubles, while Sink and Theodorides beat Jacob and Ethan Jenne 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Polk County (1-2, 1-2 WHC) travels to Owen on Friday.

Mountain Heritage improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
