The Wolverines (0-2) are slated to be back in action on Friday, traveling to Asheville to face Asheville Christian Academy.

Sedrick Pickett and Zach Foy were each 1-for-2 for Polk County, with Daniel Painter, Holden Owens and Noah Howell each 1-for-3.

Tyler Harris started and pitched two innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits. Harris also struck out three batters. Foy and Andrew Merriotte each pitched one inning and Chris Lawrence pitched the final two for the Wolverines.

Wolverine tennis team battles to tie

Polk County’s boys tennis team battled Chapman to a 3-3 tie on Wednesday in a match called because of darkness during the deciding doubles match.

With the overall match score tied at 3-3, Polk County’s No. 1 doubles team of Tyler Oxtoby and Henry Monts were tied 5-5 in their match with Chapman’s Grant Robinson and Brandon Dill when darkness forced the stoppage of the match.

The Wolverines are slated to be back on the court on Monday, traveling to North Henderson.

South Carolina matches call for five singles and two doubles matches. Here are the results from those:
