Doubles wins help push Owen past Polk

Owen edged Polk County 5-4 in Wednesday’s Western Highlands Conference boys tennis match at Polk County.

The Warhorses swept the top two singles matches and won two of three doubles matches to secure the victory.

Owen’s Luke Florence defeated Harris Windsor 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Silas Kraak topped Charlie Wagoner 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.

Polk County won the next three singles matches. Jacob Jenne defeated Daniel Shirk 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3, Morgan Allen topped Keegan Barry 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, and Ethan Jenne defeated Seth Cerda 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5. Owen’s Theo Price won at No. 6 over Isaac Hodges 6-4, 6-3.

In doubles, Florence and Kraak defeated Windsor and Wagoner 8-6 at No. 1. The Jenne brothers won at No. 2 over Price and Shirk 8-5, and Owen’s Barry and Jared Robles defeated Allen and Hodges 9-7 at No. 3.

Polk County (3-5) closes the regular season Wednesday at Madison.

Owen improved to 4-9.
