Polk County's Banks Barber

Barber earns All-WNC boys tennis selection

Polk County freshman Banks Barber has been named to the 2022 All-Western North Carolina boys tennis team as chosen by the Citizen-Times in Asheville.

Barber played No. 1 singles and doubles for Polk County in his first season of competitive tennis, qualifying for the 2A West Regional.

He compiled a 7-10 record, but six of those 10 losses came against players who qualified for the state 2A individual tournament.

Barber dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to eventual state champion Tyler Ramanata in regional play. The two games Barber won equalled the most Ramanata lost to any opponent in his march to the state title.
