Wolverines tally twice in overtime to topple Bearcats

Polk County Middle overcame a late miss on a penalty kick to hand Hendersonville Middle a 4-2 loss Wednesday in an overtime boys soccer battle at Utz Field.

With the teams tied 2-2, the Wolverines missed a penalty kick in the final 10 seconds. But Manny Albarran scored a minute into overtime on a pass from Keaundrae Green and Topher Pearson added an insurance goal on an assist from Albarran and Eno Baker to seal the win.

Hendersonville took a 1-0 lead, but Polk answered in the 17th minute as Pearson scored on a feed from Albarran. The Bearcats made it 2-1 at the half, but Green scored in the 37th minute off a Pearson assist to even the match.
