
Owen handed Polk County its first conference loss on Wednesday, edging the Wolverines 3-2 in a Western Highlands Conference match in Swannanoa.
Spurred by an early own goal, Owen (7-5-3, 7-3) built a 3-0 halftime lead. Polk County (8-4, 5-1) rallied in the second half, getting a score by Salvador Chavez and an Owen own goal to cut the lead to one. Polk County, though, would get no closer.
Jeremy Allsbrook recorded the assist on Chavez’s goal.
The Wolverines are back in action on Thursday, traveling to Mountain Heritage for another conference game at 5 p.m.
