Polk County’s junior varsity built a 2-0 halftime lead Monday, then doubled that in the second half en route to a 4-0 victory over Hendersonville at Dietz Field.

The Wolverines (4-2-1) took an early lead as Erik Ramirez fed a pass to Ross Dow, who raced down the sideline and beat the goalkeeper for the go-ahead goal.

Dow then notched the first of his three assists, playing a through ball to Grayson Meyer, who fought off a Bearcat defender and laced a drive into the top of the net to put Polk up 2-0.

Dow set up the Wolverines’ next goal with a cross that Luke Garrison headed into the net. Joshua Chavez-Jaimes then closed the scoring, taking a pass from Dow and slipping it past the keeper.

Matthew Jarrett and Konnor Huskey anchored the Wolverine defense, with goalkeeper Nate Harms posting the clean sheet with a handful of saves.

Polk County’s next match will be Sept. 30 at home against East Rutherford.
