West Henderson tops Polk in rain-plagued soccer opener

Polk County’s boys soccer team dropped a rainy 3-0 decision Thursday to West Henderson in the Wolverines’ season opener in Mills River.

Maks Koch, Matthew Pitcavage and Francisco Mendoza each scored goals as West Henderson improved to 3-0 on the season.

The Falcons built a 2-0 lead at the half during a game repeatedly stopped due to weather delays before adding a second-half goal to account for the final margin.

West Henderson earned a 2-1 victory in junior varsity action, with Johnathan Edwards scoring the lone goal for the Wolverines.

Polk County makes its home debut on Wednesday, hosting East Henderson.
