Teamwork spurring middle school soccer squad to success
As Polk County Middle’s boys soccer squad nears the halfway mark of its season, head coach Travis Aldred couldn’t be more pleased with the team’s 3-1-1 record.
“The first half of the season has gone well,” Aldred said. “My expectations for the team was just to be able to compete in every game, and we have met that so far.”
Opening with a tough 1-0 loss to Canton, Polk rebounded with three straight wins before battling Hendersonville Middle to a 2-2 draw on Monday. The Wolverines hit the road on Wednesday for a 4:30 p.m. match at Flat Rock before beginning a second run through their Blue Ridge Middle School Conference schedule.
“We’re a team, and we push each other to work hard in practice and games,” Aldred said.
As for that second half of the schedule, Aldred said the keys to success will be the same as the first half of the year – “We continue to work hard and play as a team.”
