Shelby’s boys soccer team opened its season Thursday night by gaining a bit of revenge, downing Polk County 6-0 in Shelby in a rematch of a 2015 2A playoff game.

The Wolverines won that second-round battle, but the Lions had too much firepower this go-around, unleashing 28 shots in the game.

Shelby (1-0) turned a 2-0 halftime lead into the final margin as Polk County (0-2) allowed four second-half goals for the second consecutive game.

Wilson Edwards had 10 saves for Polk County, which travels to East Lincoln on Monday for another non-conference affair.
