Polk County, still keeping its season strong, won against Mountain Heritage on Thursday by a score of 3-2.
The Wolverines are now 5-2-2 overall and 4-0 in Western Highlands Conference play.
David Sanchez scored three goals in the match, with assists on two goals from Jeremy Allsbrook and the third from Bradley Osborn.
Sanchez scored two goals in the first half as Polk County took a 2-0 lead. Mountain Heritage then scored two goals to make the score 2-2 at halftime.
With just under eight minutes left in the match, Sanchez scored the winning goal.
“I don’t know if it’s because we had two goals at the start, but we started off with the two goals and kind of relaxed,” said Polk County head coach Lennox Charles. “We had a couple of major brain freezes.
“In the second half we got off to a quick start. I thought in the second half, even though they got down there a few times, we played a better second half.”
Goalie Tyler Campbell had five saves.
Polk County plays again on Monday, traveling to face Owen, who also hasn’t lost in conference play.
