Polk County controlled the pace from the outset Thursday, building a three-goal halftime lead on the way to a 4-1 victory at R-S Central.
Erik Ramirez scored twice and added an assist for the Wolverines, with Ross Dow contributing a goal and an assist as Polk improved to 2-0.
Ramirez opened the scoring, taking a pass from Luke Garrison and driving a shot into the corner of the net. Polk continued to find success attacking down the left side with Ramirez and Dow, and Ramirez eventually struck again to make it 2-0.

Dow then supplied perhaps the goal of the night. Collecting the ball near midfield, Dow worked his way through at least five R-S Central defenders before drilling a shot into the upper corner, sending Polk into halftime with a 3-0 advantage.
R-S Central (2-1) came out more aggressively in the second half and began creating opportunities. The Hilltoppers eventually converted one of those chances, heading home a corner kick to cut the margin to 3-1.
Polk goalkeeper Charlie Wagoner made a couple of key saves during the R-S Central surge, part of a five-save night that helped keep the Hilltoppers from drawing any closer.
The Wolverines answered less than 10 minutes after the R-S Central goal. Ramirez beat a defender on the outside, cut back toward the middle and curled a shot toward the far corner. The R-S Central goalkeeper made the save, but Jackson Blotner charged into the area and knocked home the rebound for the final goal.
Grayson Meyer and Matt Jarrett helped anchor the Polk defense, limiting R-S Central’s forwards and controlling play in the air.
Polk County returns to action Monday with a road match at East Henderson.lead and defeated R-S Central 4-1 to improve to 2-0.
