Polk County has earned the ninth seed in the 1A West boys soccer state playoffs and will host Triad Math and Science in Monday’s opening round.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released official brackets for the state playoffs on Friday.

The Wolverines (9-9-2) earned the right to be seeded as a top seed from the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference by virtue of finishing with a .500 or better record. That meant being seeded in the first group of teams, which led to Polk earning the ninth overall seed.

Triad Math and Science received the 24th seed in 1A West and will travel from Greensboro. The Bengals finished the season with an 8-7-1 record, taking fourth place in the Northwest Piedmont Conference.

Start time for Monday’s match is still to be announced.

The winner of Monday’s match will face either North Rowan or South Stokes in the second round. With a win, Polk County would either travel to North Rowan or host South Stokes.
