
Polk County will begin play Monday in the state 1A boys soccer playoffs, hosting Cornerstone Charter Academy in a second-round match.
The game, originally slated for Tuesday, will now be held Monday at 6 p.m. in G.M. Tennant Stadium.
Cornerstone, the 23rd seed in the 1A West bracket with a 6-13-1 record, upset No. 7 seed Thomas Jefferson 1-0 on Saturday. Leading scorer Stuart Howard (33 goals) had the game-winning tally in the second half while senior goalkeeper Jonny Dean had 18 saves in the win.
The winner of Monday’s match will face either No. 2 Mount Airy or No. 15 Union Academy on Thursday.
