Polk soccer players receive All-Region, All-WNC and All-Area honors

Polk County High soccer players have earned a number of postseason awards after a season in which the Wolverines reached the 1A West Region final.

Five Wolverines earned a spot on the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association Region 10 1A All-Region aquad. Those named to the All-Region team included seniors Jesus Avellaneda and Clark Phipps and juniors Nicolas Lopez, Grayson Jones and Isaac Edwards.

Edwards also received a spot on the All-Western North Carolina squad as chosen by the Asheville Citizen-Times. The Wolverine forward was one of just four non-seniors named to the first team.

Jones earned a spot on the All-WNC second team, with Avellaneda, Lopez, Phipps and senior Jonah Wyatt receiving honorable mention.

In addition, Avellaneda, Edwards, Jones, Lopez and Phipps were chosen for the All-Area team selected by the Times-News.
