
Polk County Middle kept its hopes for a Blue Ridge Conference East Division title alive Monday, knocking off Flat Rock 3-2 in a road boys soccer match.
The win lifts Polk County’s record to 8-2 overall, 6-2 in East Division play. Apple Valley is currently 6-1-1 in the East, with Flat Rock at 5-2 (not including last week’s game with Brevard). Apple Valley and Flat Rock meet again next week in the final game of the season.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead, but Keaundrae Green scored in the 24th minute to even the match. Polk then grabbed a 2-1 halftime lead as Emanual Albarran found the net off an Evan Jones corner kick.
Flat Rock tied the match early in the second half, but Jones scored in the 48th minute off a throw-in by Auston Ledford.
The Polk defense then held Flat Rock over the final 10 minutes to secure the win.
Polk Middle hosts Brevard Middle on Wednesday in its final regular-season home match of the season.
