Polk County Middle pulled away in the second half Tuesday to hand Hendersonville Middle a 4-1 defeat in boys soccer action in Hendersonville.
The Wolverines (9-2) largely controlled the Blue Ridge Conference victory, building a 3-0 lead early in the second half and largely keeping the Bearcats (2-7) at bay the rest of the way.
Polk took a 1-0 lead in the first half as Brennan Oates struck in the 21st minute. Oates then helped set up the Wolverines’ second goal, that capping a sequence in which Polk worked the ball upfield with passes from Jared Contreras, Callaway Cameron, Owen Justice and Oates, who delivered a cross that Asher Brooks tapped in to put the Wolverines up 2-0 in the 40th minute.

Oates then made it 3-0 two minutes later, scoring from point-blank range.
Hendersonville tallied to make it 3-1, but Contreras found the net from the top of the 6-yard stripe to cap the scoring.
The Wolverines wll return to action on Monday, traveling to Brevard Middle for a 4:30 p.m. match.
