Polk Middle offense shines as Wolverines romp in home debut

1 min read

Polk County Middle had little trouble Wednesday in its home opener, downing Madison Middle 7-0 at Utz Field in a Blue Ridge Conference match.

The Wolverines (2-0) wasted no time asserting control, with Callaway Cameron finding the net in the second minute to set the tone early. That opening goal sparked what would become an offensive showcase for Polk Middle.

The home side built their advantage midway through the first half when Owen Justice converted a pass from Julian Albarran in the 18th minute. Moments later, Bret Burgin extended the lead further, connecting on a well-placed header off another Albarran cross.

Polk Middle’s attack showed no signs of slowing after the break. Ethan Dotson opened the second-half scoring in the 33rd minute before Albarran, who had already notched two assists, added a goal of his own in the 42nd minute. Cameron netted his second goal of the match in the 45th minute, and Alec Fine capped the scoring with a breakaway finish in the 51st minute.

Polk Middle will look to maintain its momentum when the Wolverines travel to face Chase Middle on Thursday. That match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
