Polk Middle notches shutout at Chase Middle

Polk County Middle opened a quick two-goal lead Thursday and went on to defeat Chase Middle 5-0 in boys soccer action in Forest City.

The Wolverines (3-1) ventured out of Blue Ridge Conference play and enjoyed success on the short road trip, building a 3-0 halftime lead and keeping the Trojans off the board for the rest of the day.

Brennan Oates gave the Wolverines the advantage two minutes into the match, scoring off a pass from Callaway Cameron. Oates added another goal minutes later for a 2-0 Polk lead.

Owen Justice boosted the advantage to 3-0 some 10 minutes into the match, picking up the ball on the left flank, dribbling into the middle of the penalty area and firing a strike from some seven yards out for the goal.

Oates made it 4-0 early in the second half, drilling a long free kick over the goalkeeper’s head, before striking for the fourth time at the 44:16 mark, heading in a Rhys Jackson corner kick.

Polk’s fifth quarter team also triumphed in a 3-1 win. Ethan Dotson, Axel Ramirez and Jackson Blotner scored in the win.

Polk Middle will return to conference play on Tuesday, traveling to Apple Valley for a 4:30 p.m. match.
