Polk County Middle's Asher Brooks

Polk County Middle saw its regular season end Wednesday with a loss, but the Wolverines still earned a bye for the upcoming Blue Ridge Conference boys soccer tourney.

Polk’s 1-0 loss at Rugby Middle left the Wolverines with a 11-2-1 regular-season record. Even with the loss, Polk finished 9-1 in the BRC East Division and earned the division championship.

That earned the Wolverines a first-round bye for the BRC tourney that has expanded this season to 10 teams. Polk will begin tournament play on Wednesday against the winner of the opening-round match between Hendersonville Middle and Canton Middle.

Should the Wolverines win that match, Polk would then host either Smoky Mountain or Brevard Middle in the tournament semifinals.

The complete pairings include:

Macon Middle (1) — BYE

Apple Valley (8)
Waynesville (9)

Rugby (4)
Flat Rock (5)

Polk Middle (2) — BYE

Hendersonville (7)
Canton (10)
