Rhys Jackson scored twice Wednesday as Polk County Middle opened a two-goal halftime lead and went on to defeat Waynesville Middle 4-1 at Utz Field.
Jackson put the Wolverines in front in the 11th minute, striking from roughly 26 yards out for the opening goal.
Matthew Alvarez doubled the advantage in the 24th minute. Alvarez beat his defender on the right side, dribbled into the penalty area and drove a high shot to the left side of the goal to send Polk into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The Wolverines added to the margin in the 43rd minute. JJ Klimstra sent a low cross into the box from the right side, and Sawyer Searcy finished at the back post with his left foot for a 3-0 advantage.
Jackson then delivered his second goal on a long free kick, scoring from roughly 45 yards as his high effort dropped into the upper right corner of the goal.
Waynesville broke through in the 55th minute, a Mountaineer player running onto a pass just inside the Polk half, outracing the defense and scoring from about 12 yards for the final 4-1 margin.
Polk Middle also had an opportunity to get additional players on the field in a 15-minute fifth quarter and won that period 3-0. Lee Smith scored from about eight yards out before Henry Brooks struck twice in a three-minute span.
The Wolverines improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Polk travels to Rugby Middle on Monday.
