Polk Middle boys back on winning track with defeat of Brevard

Polk County Middle rebounded from a tough loss at Flat Rock to hand Brevard Middle a 2-1 setback Wednesday in Blue Ridge Conference boys soccer action at Utz Field.

The Wolverines (4-2) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half as Eno Baker connected on a penalty kick. Polk received the free kick when Manny Albarran was fouled in the 13th minute in the penalty area.

Brevard evened the match midway through the second half, but with some six minutes remaining in regulation, Baker scored again to give Polk Middle the win.

Brevard Middle dropped to 2-3 with the loss.

Polk Middle’s win came after a 5-0 loss on Monday at undefeated Flat Rock. The Eagles scored all five goals in the first half.

Polk’s fifth quarter team did post a 2-0 win, with Tommy Jackson scoring both goals.

The Wolverines are back in action on Monday, traveling to Rugby Middle.
