Polk County Middle weathered Hendersonville’s early pressure Wednesday, then turned two first-half opportunities into goals and made them hold up for a 2-0 Blue Ridge Conference victory in Hendersonville.
Hendersonville opened as the more dangerous side, but Polk struck against the run of play in the eighth minute. Julian Albarran collected the ball at the top of the penalty area and drove a high shot past the goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead.
The goal shifted momentum toward the Wolverines, who doubled their advantage in the 16th minute.

Polk carried the 2-0 lead into halftime, but Hendersonville again seized the initiative after the break.
This time, the Wolverines’ defense made certain there would be no comeback.
Jackson, Abbott Shukha, Sully Searcy and Sergio Flores anchored the back line, while Searcy and Greyson Hinson provided help from central midfield. Goalkeeper Josiah Collier added four saves as Polk kept Hendersonville off the scoreboard through 60 minutes.
The victory improved Polk County Middle to 5-2 overall and 5-2 in Blue Ridge Conference play.
