Polk County Middle’s boys soccer team battled Chase Middle to a 1-1 draw Tuesday in the Wolverines’ season opener.

The teams played 25-minute halves due to the heat.

Chase grabbed a 1-0 lead just before halftime, but the Wolverines responded in the second half. Erik Ramirez took a free kick that Ross Dow was able to flick deep into the penalty area. Owen Ramirez won a battle for the loose ball and popped it into the net for the tying goal.

Polk Middle is set to return to action on Wednesday, hosting Asheville Christian Academy for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff at Utz Field.
