Polk County Middle's Macoda Martin

Polk County Middle battled Wednesday to a 3-3 tie with Asheville Christian Academy in Blue Ridge Conference boys soccer action in Swannanoa.

Polk Middle (1-0-1) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the early portion of the first half on an Erik Pena goal, and the score remained that way at the half.

ACA (0-1-1) evened the match early in the second half, but Pena tallied again moments later, scoring on a touch from within the penalty box for a 2-1 Wolverine lead.

The Lions again tied the score, and again Polk Middle grabbed an advantage as Ross Dow slipped a shot just past the ACA goalkeeper.

ACA answered in the 58th minute, and the match eventually went to overtime. Both teams made key defensive plays in the extra session to preserve the tie.

Polk Middle returns to action on Tuesday, visiting Apple Valley Middle.
