
Polk County’s junior varsity enjoyed an early end to Monday’s match with Madison.
The Wolverines scored early and often in recording a 9-0 win over the Patriots, ending their home opener early by mercy rule and no doubt doubly delighting the G.M. Tennant Stadium crowd on a very warm evening.
Erik Pena, Tallis Metcalf, David Ramirez each scored two goals for Polk County, with Metcalf adding two assists and Pena also recording an assist.
Also scoring goals were Wyatt Highsmith, Grayson Meyer and Ezra Marlow.
Charlie Wagoner had two saves for Polk County (1-1), which will next be in action on Monday, hosting East Henderson. That match will begin ast 5 p.m. in Tennant Stadium and will also be shown live on NFHS Network.
