Polk gears up for conference play with win at East Henderson

Polk County tuned up Monday for the start of conference play, topping East Henderson 4-1 in a non-conference boys soccer match in Flat Rock.

The Wolverines improved to 5-1-2 with the win ahead of Wednesday’s Mountain Foothills 7 Conference opener against defending champion Patton. That match is set for 6 p.m. in Tennant Stadium.

Nate Martinez, Thomas Varnadore, Manny Albarran and Cooper Meyer each scored goals for the Wolverines. Meyer added two assists, with Blake Anderson recording one.

Charlie Wagoner added four saves for Polk.

East Henderson took a 3-0 victory in the junior varsity match.
