Owen grabbed a 5-0 halftime lead Thursday and went on to hand Polk County a 7-0 setback in a non-conference boys soccer matchup in G.M. Tennant Stadium.

The Warhorses improved to 6-2-1 with the win. Elijah Caro and Davis Kendall each had two goals in the match for Owen.

Polk County dropped to 0-8 with the loss.

The defeat came a night after the Wolverines fell 4-1 in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference match at Hendersonville. The Bearcats raced to their four-goal advantage in the first half, with senior standout Cooper King scoring three times in the first 40 minutes.

Cole Pereira struck in the second half for Polk’s lone goal.

Owen’s junior varsity claimed a 2-0 win on Thursday over Polk County, scoring both goals in the first half. The Wolverine JVs fell to 1-4-1 overall with the loss.

Polk County’s varsity is set to be in action on Monday, traveling to R-S Central for a conference match. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and the match is scheduled to be streamed on NFHS Network.
