MIDDLE SCHOOL
Blue Ridge Conference leader Apple Valley showed Monday why it remains undefeated. Polk County Middle showed how much it has improved this season.
The Wolverines dropped a 6-1 decision to the league leaders at Polk, matching the result with Apple Valley from earlier this season. But the Wolverines (4-5-1) trailed just 2-0 at halftime and had a scoring opportunity early in the second half go awry that could have sliced the margin in half.
Braxton Edwards scored the lone goal for Polk Middle, which travels Wednesday to face Hendersonville Middle in a key East Division match.
