In a hard-fought Blue Ridge Conference clash, Polk County Middle and Flat Rock Middle battled to a 1-1 draw on Monday afternoon in Flat Rock.
Flat Rock (5-4-2) controlled the tempo throughout the first half, dominating the midfield and breaking through in the 17th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Polk Middle’s defense, though tested repeatedly, managed to keep the deficit at one goal heading into halftime.
The Wolverines (7-3-2) emerged with renewed energy after the break, showing better organization and challenging more effectively for possession. Their persistence paid off in the 38th minute when Foster Meyer capitalized on a loose ball following his own free kick, sending a 13-yard shot that deflected off a defender and past the Flat Rock goalkeeper to level the score.
