Ledford’s hat trick helps push Polk County JVs to victory

Hunter Ledford recorded a hat trick Wednesday to lead Polk County’s junior varsity squad to a commanding 5-0 victory over Mountain Heritage in Western Highlands Conference play.

The win extended Polk County’s unbeaten streak to five games and improved the Wolverines to 6-2-2 on the season.

Erik Ramirez opened the scoring for Polk County with a shot from distance off an assist from Jared Contreras, setting the tone for the Wolverines’ offensive showcase.

Ledford then took over, muscling home three goals from his midfield position to put the match out of reach. Ramirez, who opened the scoring, also contributed an assist on one of Ledford’s tallies.

Matt Jarrett capped the scoring with a header that he drilled into the top of the net off an assist from Tomas Santibanez, punctuating the Wolverines’ dominant performance.

Polk County will look to extend its unbeaten streak when it closes the season Oct. 29 at home against Hendersonville.
