Nothing like ending the season with a bit of drama.

Luke Garrison scored with 30 seconds remaining Wednesday, lifting Polk County to a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Hendersonville in both teams’ regular-season finale in G.M. Tennant Stadium.

Hendersonville took a 1-0 lead in the first half kept it for much of the second. But the Wolverines got the equalizer in the 56th minute as Ross Dow played a long through ball to Garrison, who outran a defender and drilled a shot from some 15 yards out into the left side of net to even the match.

Both teams pushed in the final few minutes to take the lead. Polk finally did so in the final seconds as Erik Pena garnered control of a loose ball in Hendersonville’s end of the field and flipped it forward toward Garrison, who redirected the ball past a Bearcat defender and into the middle of the field, where Garrison raced to, snared the ball near the penalty kick spot and slotted it into the right side of the net, touching off a frentic Wolverine celebration.

Polk County ends its season with a 9-3-1 record.
