
Hendersonville Middle tallied in overtime Wednesday to hand Polk County Middle a 1-0 loss in a Blue Ridge Conference East Division showdown in Hendersonville.
The Bearcats improved to 7-2 with the win and took over sole possession of first place in the East Division. Polk Middle dropped to 5-4 and remains tied with Flat Rock in second place.
Head coach Lennox Charles cited the work of defenders Tommy Jackson, Cooper Meyer, Keegan Wyatt, Jasper Nespeca and Will Garrison and goalkeeper Charlie Wagoner for keeping the Bearcats scoreless in regulation.
A key game is set for Monday as Flat Rock visits Utz Field for a 4:30 p.m. match that will likely play a key role in postseason seeding.
