Polk County Middle’s boys soccer team fought valiantly Wednesday until the final whistle despite unrelenting heat and Apple Valley offense.
The undefeated Knights used a physical, aggressive approach to race to a large halftime lead and hand Polk Middle a 9-0 setback in Blue Ridge Middle School Conference soccer action at Polk.
Apple Valley (4-0) built a 5-0 lead at intermission on a sizzling 90-degree afternoon. The Wolverines (2-2) continued to press for a goal in the second half, but the Knights kept them at bay, adding to their lead until scoring their final goal with slightly more than two minutes remaining.
