Polk County Middle delivered its best offensive effort of the season on Monday, keeping the scoreboard operator busy in an 8-1 victory over Hendersonville Middle at Utz Field.
The Wolverines built a 3-0 halftime lead, then scored four quick goals in the second half en route to the triumph.
Polk Middle improves to 9-1-1 overall, 7-0 in Blue Ridge Conference East Division play. The Wolverines host Flat Rock on Wednesday and can clinch the East Division title with a win.
Ross Dow had a pair of goals and Oakley Whiteside added one off a Dow assist as the Wolverines opened their three-goal halftime advantage.
Polk then scored four times in the first 10 minutes of the second half, all of those goals by Luke Garrison. Dow assisted on three of those strikes while Thomas Santibanez had the final assist as Garrison completed his four-fer.
Alec Fine then capped the scoring in the 54th minute with a drive off the far post.
