Garrison, Alley, six other Wolverines earn All-WHC recognition

Polk County senior Will Garrison has been named the Western Highlands Conference Defensive Player of the Year, head coach George Alley has been named the Coach of the Year and six other Wolverines have earned all-conference honors.

Polk’s Cooper Meyer, Thomas Varnadore, Mason Hudson, Tanner Osborn, Charlie Wagoner and Ross Dow joined Garrison on the All-WHC boys soccer squad.

Garrison anchored a Polk County defense that helped carry the Wolverines to the state 3A championship match. The Wolverines allowed just 18 goals in 22 matches and posted 11 shutouts, including a 1-0 win over Pine Lake Prep in the 3A West Regional final.

Alley, in his third season atop the Polk program, led the Wolverines to the first undefeated regular season in the program’s history, the WHC regular-season title and to their first state final appearance since 2006. Polk finished with an 18-1-3 record, falling 2-0 to Wallace-Rose Hill in Saturday’s state final.
