Polk County Middle's Evan Marlow

Polk County Middle built a 2-0 first-half lead Wednesday and went on to top Apple Valley by that margin in a Blue Ridge Conference boys soccer match.

The Wolverines (8-1-1) scored in the 11th minute as Hunter Ledford converted a pass from Cole Huntley.

Polk then doubled its lead 10 minutes later as Luke Garrison headed home a cross from Ross Dow.

Jackson Blotner recorded seven saves to keep Apple Valley (1-4-3) off the scoreboard.

Polk Middle will return home to Utz Field on Monday, hosting Hendersonville Middle in a 4:30 p.m. match.
