Brevard’s stingy defense made it a tough Friday evening for Polk County, the Blue Devils recording a 3-1 over the Wolverines in a Mountain Foothills 7 meeting in G.M. Tennant Stadium.
Brevard (13-3-1, 7-0) has given up just 14 goals this season and has only allowed two opponents to score more than once. The Blue Devils held Polk County (9-3-2, 4-2) scoreless until the final minute, when James Purtill connected on a long free kick that bounced once and skittered just inside the left post.
The Blue Devils built a 1-0 halftime lead, then added a pair of goals in the second half to build the winning margin.
