Polk County needed a half to settle into Monday’s match at East Henderson.
Once the Wolverines did, Jackson Blotner took over.
Blotner scored three times in the second half as Polk County pulled away for a 4-0 victory, improving to 3-0 on the season.

The opening half proved a back-and-forth battle. East Henderson looked to use the speed of its forwards and attack directly, and Polk at times found itself matching that approach rather than playing its own style.
Matt Jarrett helped make sure that didn’t cost the Wolverines, using his speed and persistent pursuit defensively to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.
Polk changed its approach after halftime, looking to be more patient in possession, and the adjustment quickly produced results.
About 15 minutes into the second half, Brennan Oates flicked a header into the path of Blotner, who was pulled down inside the penalty area. Blotner converted the resulting penalty kick for a 1-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later, combination play along the left sideline created another opening. Erik Ramirez delivered a pass off the wing to Blotner, who spun away from a defender and finished for a 2-0 advantage.
Polk’s third goal began with a turnover in midfield. Tallis Metcalf slipped a through ball to Blotner, who drove toward the end line and fired a ball across the penalty area. Hunter Ledford met it and sliced a shot past the East Henderson goalkeeper.
Blotner then completed Polk’s first hat trick of the season on the final goal. Senior newcomer Brady Carroll played a through ball to Blotner, who hammered a shot into the upper corner to complete the 4-0 win and give Carroll his first assist of the season.
Polk County (3-0) returns home Wednesday to face Patton.
