Polk County Middle's Gage Harden

Polk County Middle’s young boys basketball team dropped a pair of contests, falling at Asheville Christian Academy on Tuesday and at home to Apple Valley on Wednesday.

The Wolverines, who have just three eighth graders on their squad, fell to 0-3 with the losses.

The big quarter gave the Lions a 29-6 halftime advantage.

David Duffy had six points for Polk, with Luke Garrison scoring five. Brody Wilkins had four points, with Gage Harden scoring three and Ross Dow adding two.

APPLE VALLEY 38, POLK MIDDLE 19: The Knights pulled away in the second half to record the Blue Ridge Conference East Division victory.

The Knights led 10-0 early, but the Wolverines rallied and closed to within 15-9 at halftime. Polk still trailed just 25-16 entering the fourth quarter, only to see Apple Valley pull away in the final six minutes.

Harden led Polk with 11 points, with Duffy scoring four and Garrison and Keyan Simpson each scoring two.
