Wolverines stop Warhorses to win conference opener

Dominique Carson scored 24 points, including 15 in a huge third quarter, to lead Polk County to a 61-56 victory at Owen on Monday evening.

The Wolverines improved to 2-0 overall, 1-0 in Western Highlands Conference play while Owen dropped to 1-3, 1-1.

Carson had five field goals, two free throws and a 3-pointer in his third-period outburst. Brett Bagwell added 13 points for Polk County.

Wesley Royster had seven points, with Bryson Edwards and Shaq Wingo each scoring six. Tyler Staley added five points for the Wolverines.

Polk County returns home Wednesday to face Madison in another WHC contest. The Wolverines will honor their senior players before the game.
