Undefeated Hendersonville Middle took command in the third quarter Monday and held off Polk County Middle in a 31-23 boys basketball win in Hendersonville.
The Wolverines (4-5) kept things close in the first half, trailing just 13-10 at the break. But Hendersonville Middle grabbed a 23-13 lead at the end of the period, then had timely free throw shooting in the fourth period to seal the win.
“We played them hard until the end, especially on defense,” said Polk Middle head coach Josh Money. “Very proud of how they played and the toughness they showed.”
Gunnar Alm and Avery Harden each had six points to lead Polk Middle, with Antonio Simpson scoring five, Keaundrae Green adding three, Karlan McEntyre scoring two and Eno Baker adding a point.
The Wolverines return home Thursday to face Flat Rock.
