Top-ranked Hendersonville opened a 35-point halftime lead Wednesday en route to an 83-46 victory over Polk County in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference boys basketball battle in Hendersonville.
The Bearcats (17-1, 6-1), the top-rated team in the NCHSAA 2A West RPI rankings and MaxPreps 2A West rankings, raced to a 30-12 lead at the end of the first period and continued to build on that in the second, eventually taking a 63-28 lead into the dressing room.
Isaiah Spears hit four 3-pointers for 12 points to lead Polk County (6-8, 0-6), with Kanye Staley scoring 11 points. Kris Littlejohn added six points for the Wolverines.

Brandon West, Vincent Twitty and Mackus Simpson each had three points for Polk while Riley Searcy, Landen Bradley, Wayne Carson and team-leading scorer Dominique Carson each had two points.
Keenan Wilkins had 25 points to lead Hendersonville.
Polk County returns to action on Friday, traveling to R-S Central for another MF7 matchup. That game is slated to be shown live on NFHS Network.
